A FOSS computer consultant living in the UK recently wrote about Amazon UK honoring his request for a refund of the Microsoft license fee portion of the cost of a new Asus netbook PC, which came with Microsoft Windows XP pre-installed. Alan Lord details the steps he took in obtaining a refund of 40.00 GBP for the cost of the End User Liscence Agreement. He even included links to request a refund.
The issue, originally publicized by a post on slashdot.com ten years ago, has lost a little momentum recently. But in recent years, with judges in Israel, Italy and France awarding refunds, the spotlight seems to be back on EULA discounts. Courtesy of slashdot.com
